Street Lighting
LinacreOne has created a continual street lighting programme in partnership with Sefton Council as it was identified by the local community as being a major security issue. To date £15,000 from the Living Through Change budget has been spent on this project, with additional money being contributed from the NAG (Neighbourhood Action Group) and Sefton Council. This project will continue into 2006/07.

Target Hardening
Following a major consultation exercise undertaken with local residents, this programme aims to improve the security of properties that have either been subject to recent burglaries or are vulnerable due to their location i.e. adjacent to voids. The works involved includes new front and rear doors, burglar alarms, rear gates and window locks. To date, 32 properties have been identified and included in the project.

Handyperson Scheme
This scheme has been introduced in partnership with Riverside Housing Association to undertake minor household improvement work currently for residents over the age of 55. However, in 2006/07 it is planned to expand this service to include other vulnerable groups such as young single parents.

Benefits Advice
LinacreOne is exploring the possibility of purchasing the services of a specialist benefits adviser to hold surgeries on a regular basis in the LinacreOne office. This will allow local people to discuss and maximise their benefits allowance.

Void Security
LinacreOne has budgeted to maintain the security of a number of voids in the area until they are refurbished over the next six to eight months. These properties will be used for decant purposes. Additionally, the compulsory purchase of a small number of long term voids in the area is also being pursued to prevent further incidents of arson, fly-tipping and general anti-social behaviour.

Community Awards
LinacreOne has established an annual programme of awards, whereby individuals/organisations are nominated by the local community in recognition of the hard work they undertake as community volunteers.

The Community Awards are sponsored by a variety of small local businesses, contractors, consultants and partner organisations of LinacreOne.

Graffiti Removal
LinacreOne intends to continue with a graffiti removal programme in the area to supplement the work of the Council. The services of a contractor have been engaged, who it is planned to use one day a month to tackle the worst affected areas.

Environmental Cleanup Campaign & Schools Education Package
LinacreOne is proposing an area campaign to tackle the fly-tipping, dog dirt, graffiti and general rubbish in the area through additional skip schemes and working with Groundwork Trust on an educational programme aimed at engaging the youth in the area.

Environmental Arts Project
LinacreOne is currently working with local schools on a community arts project to design posters which will be displayed on boards around building sites. Future plans also include involving local children in painting a mural within the area which may again be co-ordinated through Groundwork Trust.

Void Property Cleanups
Through the Living Through Change budget, it is proposed a small sum of money be identified to allow the team to deal with general void property security and dumping, in order that long term voids and associated fly-tipping can be proactively tackled.

Hornby Boulevard Hidden Garden
LinacreOne was approached by a number of residents to improve a small unadopted communal garden area. The area was badly overgrown with considerable fly-tipping debris. Work to improve this area was successfully completed in July 2005. This work involved completely clearing the area to provide a safe and secure area for young children and parents to use.
